What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors are consistently impressed by the cave's stunning silicate formations and unique underground atmosphere, describing it as a magical experience. However, many note the disappointment of finding little to no ice due to climate change, and the language barrier on tours can be a drawback for international travelers.
"Demänovská Ice Cave was an unforgettable experience! We were amazed by the shimmering ice formations and the cool, mysterious atmosphere. It felt like entering a fairytale world hidden deep underground.
The mix of rock and ice is simply stunning - massive icicles, frozen waterfalls, and unique shapes sculpted by nature. The temperature drop was refreshing on a hot summer day, and the guided tour was both interesting and informative (even if not in English, visuals speak for themselves!).
It’s a short hike to reach the cave, but totally worth it. Bring a jacket and good shoes - and be ready to be amazed. A perfect stop for families, adventurers, or anyone who loves nature’s hidden beauty.
Highly recommend it!"

"Nice cave.
But there is no ice.
According to the guide there hasn’t been for several years due to climate change. Other reviews that are saying that there is ice in the cave from the past 3 or more yrs are according to the park service incorrect.
There are only tours in Polish and Slovakian. If you don’t understand these languages, you still have to follow a group due to safety and rules. However, one of the guides was incredibly kind and translated all the information for us. This is not a given, but do ask. It made the experience much better."

"It was beautiful place. 8€ /1 hour for parking is a joke.
Unfortunately, there was no ice inside. The informational content is available in several languages.
Crew was nice. 👌"
