Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Johann Nepomuk Hummel Museum as a gem for true fans, offering an emotional connection to the composer's life and instruments, particularly the piano used for Mozart lessons. While acknowledged as small and best suited for aficionados, its unique entrance and intimate atmosphere are appreciated.

"The entrance to the house of Hummel is through a CD shop located near the main square

It's not a great museum but I'm a huge fan of Hummel, a composer who's as great as Beethoven but definitely not as famous

Just like I almost cried seeing the last piano Beethoven used (in the Budapest museum) I was filled of emotion to see four pianos Hummel sang on during his life beginning with one used when he took lessons from Mozart and another he played on in London in 1831... You can definitely see the difference and how the instrument evolved

Curation is minimal, there are a few explanatory posts in English and Slovak, the entire museum consists of two small rooms and a hallway. Some text in the shop will put things in perspective as well

Recommend for Hummel fans, for people who have no interest in the music avoid unless you can enjoy it as part of the Bratislava card and you don't have anything else to chose from"

"Entrance via the cd shop. Really small musuyabout hummels. Only two rooms. But the musical atmosphere is very nice"

Anthony Chan

"Strongly recommended. The Hummel trumpet concerto was one in my repertoire, so I wanted to look in here. You go in through a record shop, and I had a pleasant little conversation with a punter about the trumpet concerto. The museum itself is two rooms of Hummel’s house, and can be seen on 10 minutes. But seeing the piano upon which he had lessons from Mozart is mind-blowing.
I was last in Bratislava 28 years ago. It has been completely ruined by over-exploitation. But the Hummel house is a gem."
