Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Shri Krishna Temple for its divine and peaceful atmosphere, vibrant South Indian architecture, and intricate sculptures. Many appreciate its welcoming nature and its role as a spiritual sanctuary in the heart of Singapore. Some note that evenings can be crowded, and adherence to a modest dress code is expected.

"You will be hard pressed to find more colour, architectural diversity and mysterious statuary than in a Hindu temple. The beautiful, the gory, the peculiar, the fascinating, the macabre and the uplifting weaved into one tapestry covering every wall of the temple.
Kind of like life itself.

If you have never visited a Hindu temple and feel a bit reluctant, this is one that is most welcoming and also ecumenical (it is a popular worship spot among Daoist devotees from the temple next door, as well).

If you go in the evening around 5:00PM, you are likely to hear some traditional music and see the Hindu priests carrying out some rituals. But be aware that the temple closes at 6:00PM (as does the neighbouring Daoist reliestablishment).

Take your time to peruse the walls, respectfully, of course, and soak up some of the ambience and sacred mystery.

Sinay says:

Around the outside corner of the temple on a side street, there is a placard explaining the history of this temple in detail. A great way to get informed on the fascinating story behind the temple."

"Sri Krishnan Temple is a well-kept Hindu temple centrally located near Bugis / Bras Basah in Singapore.
The temple dates back to around 1870. It features colorful South Indian/Kerala style with detailed statues of deities including Lord Krishna, Rukmini, Hanuman, and Lakshmi, among others.
Easy to reach via public transit (Rochor, Bugis, Bras Basah MRT stations).
Free admission. Typically open mornings (6:30 AM to around 12:00 PM) and evenings (5:30 PM to 8:45 PM).
Gets crowded during festival days (e.g. Janmashtami) and evenings. Outside of those times, mornings are noticeably quieter.
Be mindful of dress code: modest attire preferred."
