Reviews Summary

Reviews highlight Singapore's diverse culinary scene, with many praising the value for money at buffet spreads and the deliciousness of specific items like potato wedges and sausages. The friendly and accommodating staff are frequently mentioned as a positive aspect. However, some visitors noted discrepancies in pricing and occasional cleanliness issues with plates.

"Food was good. They had a decent spread. Er... I thought it'd be 12.80 nett but I was charged $13? Not sure why. (Maybe cos of the coffee? Not sure if there's an extra charge for it, I got iced latte. 😅) They had a very basic selection of food, including a mini bread station and mini cereal station. Milk was good. Orange juice a bit too sweet. Another reviewers previously said there was no music, but they have started playing music and I could hear it in the background.

Will come again when I inevitably get cravings for their delicious potato wedges and sausages."

J. Van

"Had one of the cheapest buffet spread in Bencoolen / Bras Basah area - at Non Resident today . The spread is total value for money @$12 with free flow black coffee. Caesar Salad, Fruit Cocktail , Baked Beans , Sausages, Fried Rice , Croissants and muffins, etc.

The staff are friendly and accommodated to our request for cheese toast even though they were busy replenishing the buffet stations every once in a while. Would go back again during our stay in Singapore"

Nitin Agarwal

"Average breakfast.
14.2 dollars including tax.
Plates were also not clean.
Due to limited options specially non Chinese you can come here.

One of the owner smokes every now and then. Over then he doesn’t even wash his hands."

Singapore's Economic Success

Singapore's transformation from a struggling island in 1965 to one of the world's richest nations is a remarkable story. Key factors include strong leadership under Lee Kuan Yew, a zero-tolerance policy on corruption, and a commitment to world-class education and infrastructure.TikTok The nation's focus on open trade and strategic economic planning has been pivotal in its development.

This economic prowess translates into a modern, efficient, and well-resourced city. For visitors, this means excellent infrastructure, a high standard of living, and a safe environment. The strong Singapore dollar also reflects its economic stability, though it can impact the cost of travel for some.TikTok

Understanding this background adds depth to the visitor experience, highlighting the deliberate efforts that have shaped Singapore into the global hub it is today. It's a testament to strategic vision and consistent execution.

Navigating Singapore as a Non-Resident

Singapore is highly accessible and welcoming to non-residents, offering various services and opportunities. For financial matters, it's recognized as a leading global banking jurisdiction, with options available even for those who don't reside there.TikTok This makes managing finances during a visit or for business purposes straightforward.

Beyond banking, non-residents can also engage in property ownership under specific schemes, such as the non-citizen spouse scheme for HDB flats, provided certain conditions are met.TikTok If you are employed in Singapore and are not a citizen or permanent resident, you will need to be aware of tax obligations, including filing Form 21 for income tax clearance.TikTok

These aspects highlight Singapore's structured approach to accommodating international individuals, whether for short visits, employment, or longer-term stays. Being informed about these regulations and opportunities can significantly enhance your experience and planning.

Shopping and Tax Refunds

Singapore offers a rewarding shopping experience, and for tourists, the Electronic Tourist Refund Scheme (eTRS) is a significant perk. If you are a non-resident and spend at least S$100 (including GST) at a participating retailer, you are eligible to claim a tax refund on your purchases.TikTok This scheme is designed to make shopping more attractive for international visitors.

To utilize the eTRS, ensure you receive an eTRS ticket from the retailer at the point of purchase. You'll then need to present this ticket, along with your passport and goods, at the airport's eTRS counter before your departure to process the refund. It's crucial to keep all your receipts and tickets organized throughout your trip.

This system not only allows you to save money but also encourages exploration of Singapore's diverse retail landscape, from luxury brands to local boutiques. It's a straightforward process that adds value to your shopping endeavors in the city.
