What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the Praslin Museum as a 'hidden gem' offering an authentic Seychellois cultural and biodiversity experience. Highlights include hands-on animal feeding, traditional coconut demonstrations, and learning about local flora. While some note a sales aspect, the overall consensus is that it's a highly recommended, value-for-money activity with incredibly kind and knowledgeable guides.
"The experience is definitely worth the entry fee. The host was very nice and showed us a lot of interesting things. We also received fresh juices, fruit platter and coconut. We had a very unique Seychellois experience, where we could immerse ourselves in local culture and biodiversity. The only less pleasant part was that we felt “pushed” to buy some products that are being sold at the museum."

"We were warmly welcomed at the Praslin Museum and started right away by feeding the bats and tortoises – such a unique and fun experience! Afterwards, we were shown various plants and received lots of interesting explanations. One of the highlights was the coconut demonstration – we got to drink the fresh coconut milk and eat the fruit. The Aloe Vera and vanilla farms are also lovely to see.
Later, we enjoyed a delicious fresh juice and had the chance to purchase a variety of farm-made products. We chose the rum and curry powder. At the end, we were offered a bowl of fresh fruit, and I was even allowed to feed the animals again upon request.
For 180 SR per person, you really get a lot for your money here!
One small downside: after almost every explanation, there was a reminder that the product was available for purchase – at times, it felt a bit like a sales tour. That said, the young lady who led the tour was incredibly kind and spoke excellent English and French. Overall, a highly enjoyable and recommended experience!"

"Hidden gem in Praslin. Not your regular historical museum. Must visit for all ages. Below you can see various experiences you can enjoy:
- Hand feeding the fruit bats
- Learn and try how to open a coconut, then drink and grate it.
- Feeding giant tortoises and rabbits
- See how vanilla, passion fruit, papaya, aloe vera and multiple other plants are grown
- Visit an old traditional kitchen and see their tools
- Taste some fresh fruits and listen to a few live songs by the lovely guides.
They also welcomed us for another free visit any time during our holiday. We actually went a 2nd time to take some videos and photos."
