What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Kalamita Fortress for its rich history, stunning landscapes, and unique combination of ancient ruins and natural beauty. The nearby monastery and lake are also highlighted as significant attractions. Some note the uneven terrain and the need for comfortable footwear, while others appreciate the convenient parking and the overall historical atmosphere.
"I really love fortresses, rocks and excellent landscapes. Excellent view of the Chernaya River and Sevastopol Bay! A very interesting and historical place. Nearby there is also an equally cult place - the Holy Klementevsky Monastery. I love the ancient caves of Crimea, especially ancient temples, sacred places of power. And here history has come to life - active cave temples, it’s very “strong” and interesting to visit here. At Kalamita, the architectural features of this fortress are very clearly visible, you just need to want to see them! Here is the fortress moat, and the gate for forays, and the main gate, three “almost” preserved defensive towers and three more clearly preserved foundations towers, a sufficient number of fortress walls, even loopholes in some places have been preserved. I think that everyone here will find something interesting for themselves. There is an excellent parking lot, and also the sights of Inkerman, just look around...."

"The place is unique! You can get to the lake by car, and then just a short walk. Be sure to get acquainted with the history of this fortress, because these stones protected the once strong state!
And what a view you get when you get higher - you won’t regret it!
In the spring we were in the Inkerman Monastery, which is in the rock under this fortress... Complete delight!"

"The review is not about the fortress, but about the lake underneath it, Google does not add it!
The lake is fantastic, perfectly clean fresh water, quiet and calm. Very deep, about 26m, but small limestone platforms allow you to go a few meters into the shallow water with the kids, then swim.
The beauty of the place itself is difficult to convey in photos, the place is 100% worth visiting and feeling all this power...
You can go down almost to the water by car - but the white dust on the road is something, like driving on chalk."
