Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Jabal al-Nour for its profound spiritual significance and breathtaking views, especially at sunrise. The challenging climb is seen as a rewarding pilgrimage, offering a deep connection to Islamic history. However, some find the ascent physically demanding and note the lack of facilities.

"It's a good experience to be on this mountain.
It's a heritage and it's worth visiting this place once in your life time if you have traveled for Haj Or Umra.
It takes almost 45 minutes to climb this mountain depending on your age and speed. It may take even more time.

The best time to visit this place is to travel early by 3.30 am as it's not sunny and can pray your Fajr namaz om the top.

The sunrise is mind blowing and good to capture once you have finished your prayers and seen the cave. You get water, lemon juice, tea, etc on the way up. You can also carry your own snacks and surplus water if you do not want to buy it on the way up.

Overall a very good place to visit."

"The Cave of Hira holds immense significance for Muslims worldwide as the place where Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) received the first revelations of the Holy Quran.
Located on Jabal al-Nour (the Mountain of Light), just outside Makkah, visiting this sacred site is a profound experience for many.

The journey to the cave itself is an integral part of the experience. It involves a challenging climb up the mountain, which can take anywhere from 1 to 2 hours depending on one's fitness level.

The path is rocky and steep in places, but well-trodden, with steps carved into some sections.

Along the way, vendors often sell water and snacks, and there are occasional resting spots.

The climb, while physically demanding, offers breathtaking panoramic views of Makkah and the surrounding mountains, especially during sunrise or sunset.

Upon reaching the summit, a short descent leads to the small, narrow Cave of Hira. The cave itself is modest, with enough space for only a few people at a time. Inside, the atmosphere is one of deep reverence and contemplation.

Many visitors spend time in quiet prayer or reflection, imagining the Prophet's solitude and the momentous events that unfolded there.

While the physical structure of the cave is simple, its spiritual weight is immense.

For those seeking a deeper connection to Islamic history and the early days of revelation, a visit to Cave Hira is an unforgettable pilgrimage. It serves as a powerful reminder of the humble beginnings of Islam and the dedication of the Prophet.

It's advisable to wear comfortable shoes, carry water, and consider visiting during cooler parts of the day."

"Jabal Noor, Hira Cave Hike – A Sacred Ascent into Revelation

The hike to Hira Cave (Ghar Hira) is one of the most spiritually enriching and emotionally powerful experiences for any Muslim visiting Makkah. Perched atop Jabal al-Noor (Mountain of Light), this cave holds the immense historical significance of being the place where the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) received the first revelation of the Qur’an through Angel Jibreel (AS).

The climb is challenging yet rewarding. The steep staircase and rugged path leading up the mountain require physical endurance—approximately 600+ steps and around 45 minutes to 1.5 hours of hiking, depending on your pace and fitness. It’s best to begin the trek early in the morning or before sunset to avoid the scorching heat. Comfortable shoes, water and patience are a must.

As you ascend, there’s an unexplainable sense of connection to the past. The view from the top is expansive, offering a moment to pause and reflect. The cave itself is small, humble and nestled between rocks—barely enough room for one or two people to sit. But standing there, you can’t help but feel overwhelmed by its spiritual weight.

Despite the physical effort, the journey feels light on the soul. Many pilgrims spend time in quiet reflection, du’a and gratitude. There are no official facilities, so it’s a self-guided, personal experience.

In essence, the hike to Hira Cave is not just a climb—it’s a journey of reflection, reverence and closeness to revelation. A truly unforgettable experience for the heart and spirit."
