Visitors rave about Grand Étang's stunning natural beauty and the peaceful atmosphere of the lake and surrounding rainforest. The hiking loop is a highlight, offering beautiful views and the chance to see waterfalls and wildlife. However, the trails are consistently described as very muddy, which can be a significant challenge for some.
"This is really lovely place to walk around lake. We had not the greatest weather (it was raining all the time) but still we love this place. When hiking around the lake you can go to see waterfalls which are also beautiful. While hiking you can see some birds, lizards and even quite big spiders (no worries, they will not bite you). Remember to keep some drinking water with you coz this is quite long walk around this lake."
Adam
"Lovely family walk. Nearly 9km of walking in 4h40 (visiting all the viewpoints) with a 4-year-old, on a very, very, very muddy trail. In the middle of nature. Curious birds, frogs everywhere... Pretty waterfalls. Not a bad view. The downside was definitely the mud."
