Reviews Summary

Visitors are captivated by the unique beauty of the Winter Ice Park, praising the intricate ice sculptures carved into the permafrost and the otherworldly atmosphere. However, some find the experience expensive and note significant accessibility issues due to slippery conditions and a lack of amenities like restrooms.

"Simply a must visit if you come to Yakutsk! A great collection of ice sculptures, in a labyrinth like place, digged into the permafrost (the lower level of the ground that is permanently frozen throughout the year). The place is simply marvelous, and makes you feel like you enter another world! The staff is very friendly, helpful, and English speaking too! The ticket price for adults is 500 rubles, but you certainly won't regret it! Be careful where you step! There are certain spots that are quite slippery!"

"This is the best of Yakutsk so far. The permafrost is stunning, shining brightly like pieces of crystals. There are a lot of views and shapes to snap. I’m thrilled by the exquisite profession of creators. If you have been to Yakutsk, there is no excuse not to come to this place! In addition, it’s much colder inside. Also, our attache told us that it’s much more impressive to visit during the summer. It’s frozen as well!!!"

"Expensive (very!).

Not suitable for people with disabilities.

An unpleasant surprise awaits you just outside the door. Slippery floor (without carpet) and a door that can't be opened because it is primed!

No slip-resistant carpet in the labyrinth, which makes this object extremely traumatic! be careful and attentive!

At the entrance you can take a coat, shoes (not disposable, be careful)!!!

Ice figures are uninteresting, there are such figures in any park in winter for a lower price.

Some of the exhibits were closed.

No toilet.

A lot of little screaming children :("

In-depth insights and expert knowledge

The Marvel of Permafrost

The Winter Ice Park is a testament to Yakutsk's unique geological feature: permafrost. This is ground that remains frozen for at least two consecutive years. The park is literally carved into this frozen earth, creating an environment that is not only visually stunning but also remarkably cold, regardless of the season. Visitors are often amazed by how the ice sculptures seem to glow from within, a characteristic of ice formed in such extreme conditions. Reddit

This natural phenomenon allows the park to maintain its icy allure even during the warmer months. The idea of visiting a frozen wonderland in the summer is a significant draw for many. It offers a stark contrast to the typical summer experience and provides a unique perspective on Yakutsk's climate and environment. The artists' ability to work with and within this permafrost adds another layer of wonder to the entire experience. Reddit

Navigating the Icy Labyrinth

The layout of the Winter Ice Park is often described as a labyrinth. This means visitors will find themselves winding through a series of passages and chambers adorned with ice sculptures. While this design enhances the sense of discovery, it also presents practical challenges. Slippery surfaces are a common concern, with visitors frequently advising caution. Reddit

To ensure a safe and enjoyable visit, wearing shoes with good grip is highly recommended. The park does offer the option to borrow coats and shoes, but it's wise to be prepared with your own footwear if possible. The uneven and potentially slick ground makes the park less accessible for individuals with mobility issues. Planning your steps and moving deliberately will help you fully appreciate the artistry without incident. Reddit
