"There is an amazing place near the Yuryev Monastery – the Perunsky Skete.
The history of the skete is as follows. In pagan times, in 980, Prince Vladimir built a sanctuary of the pagan god Perun the Thunderer on a hill at the source of the Volkhov. But the baptism of Rus' happened, the pagan sanctuaries were destroyed, and Orthodox churches appeared in their place. In the 13th century, the wooden Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, erected in the skete, was replaced with a stone one. A small, neat church with a silhouette stretched to the sky immediately attracts the eye. This effect is achieved due to the fact that the walls of the main volume and the drum noticeably narrow at the top.
Currently, 4 novices live in the skete. On the territory of the skete there is a Worship Cross, from which a beautiful view of the Volkhov River opens.
The Perunskaya Grove itself preserves the energy of the pagan past of this place. The feeling of a certain energy center will accompany you as you walk around the hermitage. This can be felt especially clearly if you walk to the Nightingale Grove, where you can be alone with a clot of energy that is unlikely to leave this sacred place.
Walk to the beach, located behind the gates of the hermitage, near the parking lot. If you are lucky, and there are no tourist groups nearby, which are often brought to this place, standing at the edge of the water, you will be met by that force that cannot be physically noticed, but which will embrace you from head to toe, and remove all unnecessary things. This is worth coming here for."

"A very picturesque place. There are many plants around, mostly pines.
In front of the gate sits a monk who will gladly tell and show you everything. We walked around the hermitage. We walked along the path where there are information signs. It smells wonderfully of pine forest and lifts your spirits.
We looked at the view from the hill to the Volkhov.
We saw new winds and young pines near the old ones. A well that is being restored after the USSR and a pre-Mongol church.
In general, you will not regret it if you visit this place in sunny weather."
