"The museum's condition leaves much to be desired. Squeaky parquet floors and traces of flooding await you in the dusty halls. The staircase to the second floor hasn't been cleaned since its opening. The exhibits are interesting, but in such poor condition! Dust, dirt, faded photographs. The art gallery looks better, with many fine works. Are these originals? How are the temperature and humidity levels maintained with the windows open? It's a shame such a stunning building is so poorly used."

"The museum, founded in 1910, initially occupied two rooms and today houses over 100,000 exhibits on the history, nature, and cultural heritage of the region. The core of the museum collection is the collections of nationalized surrounding estates.
We purchased a combined ticket, which included a tour of the historical exhibition and art gallery. This is the best option for first-time visitors. The tour lasts an hour and a half and gives you an insight into the growth and development of Rybinsk before the early 20th century. The art gallery is located in the operating room, where transactions were conducted.
One of the museum's most treasured possessions are the portraits that belonged to the Musin-Pushkin family, including Rokotov's "Portrait of Princess Ekaterina Alekseyevna Volkonskaya." There are also originals: Aivazovsky, N.N. Ge (the author's replica) "Peter I Interrogates Tsarevich Alexei Petrovich in Peterhof," Shishkin, Popov "Troika," Kuznetsov "Sleeping Woman" (depicting his daughter), Bogolyubov (the second most important marine painter), Myasoedov, Pimonenko "The Last Ray," Zhukovsky "Snowdrops," and Roerich "The Castle."
