What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find Ramon Palace to be an impressive historical site with striking neo-Gothic architecture and a beautiful park, especially in summer. However, the ongoing restoration means limited interior access, and the remote location lacks amenities, requiring visitors to come prepared.
"This a historical place where you can visit places and local areas"
Rokim Uddin
"Very impressive place in the remote place at Voronezh oblast. You may find neogotik construction's style. The main building is also under recovery, but a small building for high quest suit is almost available. You should take a guide who tell a history about princess and others regals. There is a huge park near main building very magnificent in the summer."
Pavel Zubko
"The building is not finished.they only let you look at about 4 rooms on the first floor that have not been restored. There are no places to get food, at the house or in the village.
It should be a nice place in about 5 years or so..."

The History of Princess Eugenia and the Oldenburgs
Princess Eugenia was deeply involved in the palace's design and the development of the Ramon estate, establishing factories and improving local infrastructure. After their son, Duke Peter Alexandrovich, and his wife Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna lived there, the palace faced a turbulent history. It suffered arson in 1902 and, following the Russian Revolution, was repurposed as barracks, a school, a hospital, and housing. Despite a closure for restoration in the late 1970s, it fell into disrepair until stabilization efforts began in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
In recent years, a significant restoration project, financed by German investors and supported by Duchess Bibiane of Oldenburg, has been underway. The goal is to preserve the palace and its associated buildings as a museum and hotel complex. This ongoing effort aims to revive the grandeur of this historical landmark, ensuring its legacy for future generations.
Navigating the Restoration Site
Inside, access is limited to a few rooms on the first floor that are undergoing or have recently undergone restoration. These spaces provide a glimpse into the palace's past, showcasing some of the original design elements and the progress of the renovation work. It's important for visitors to manage their expectations, understanding that they are witnessing a historical site being carefully brought back to life, rather than a fully completed museum.
The grounds themselves are a significant attraction. The park, designed in a garden style, is particularly beautiful during the warmer months. Visitors can enjoy leisurely walks, appreciate the landscaping, and imagine the estate as it was in its heyday. The remote location adds to the tranquility of the experience, offering a peaceful escape.
