Reviews Summary

Fedorovsky Monastery is praised for its peaceful, soulful atmosphere and well-maintained grounds filled with flowers. Visitors appreciate the historical architecture, the opportunity to venerate a miraculous icon, and the friendly, informative nuns. Some note strict dress codes and potential photography restrictions inside churches.

"The Feodorovsky Convent is located at the southern entrance to the city on the road from Moscow.

The foundation of the monastery is associated with 1304, when a battle took place between the squad of Prince Mikhail Tverskoy and the Moscow Pereslavl squad of Prince Ivan Kalita. The bloody battle took place on a hill in the southern outskirts of Pereslavl-Zalessky on the day of remembrance of the Holy Great Martyr Theodore Stratilates, the patron saint of warriors. The Moscow Pereslavl squad won a victory, and, in memory of this event, the Feodorovsky Monastery was founded. Under Tsar Ivan IV Vasilyevich the Terrible, the Feodorovsky Monastery reached its greatest prosperity.

On July 30, 1667, the Feodorovsky Monastery became a nunnery. In May 1913, Emperor Nicholas II and his daughters visited the monastery. In memory of this event, the sisters of the Feodorovsky Monastery planted a linden alley, which to this day adorns the holy ancient monastery.

The archival materials of the Feodorovsky Monastery end in 1917.

In the mid-2000s, a lithographic copy of the Andronikov Icon appeared in the Feodorovsky Monastery. Considered miraculous. You can venerate the icon in the Feodorovsky Cathedral.

The Feodorovsky Cathedral of the 16th century (Cathedral of Theodore Stratilates, 1557), the Church of the Entry into the Temple of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God with hospital wards (closed), both from the 18th century, have survived to this day.

The monastery is active and was returned to the Russian Orthodox Church in 1998. There is a bakery on site - delicious pastries, I recommend trying it."

"Feodorovsky Monastery - a monastery founded in memory of the battle near Pereslavl-Zalessky in 1304 between the troops of the Moscow Prince Yuri Danilovich and the Tver Prince Mikhail Yaroslavich. By 1916, the number of inhabitants of the monastery reached 500 people. The monastery owned three hermitages, four church parish schools. Until 1918, it had the status of a second-class communal women's monastery of the Vladimir diocese."

"Quiet, soulful, cozy. I want to come again. There are many flowers on the territory. The monastery has been completely restored. The Pereyaslav Diocesan Administration is located on the territory. The mothers in the churches are friendly, they will tell you about the shrines and the history of the monastery. There is a monument to St. Luke, who did a lot for Pereyaslavl and for the country as a whole. The refectory with delicacies was closed. It is not open every day"
