What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Marcial Waters Resort offers a unique historical spa experience with effective mineral treatments and a serene natural setting in Karelia. While many praise the therapeutic benefits, delicious food, and cultural evenings, some reviews highlight concerns about outdated facilities and a lack of modern amenities.
"First mineral spar in Russia in 1700's by Peter the Great. Lovely old Church."
Peter Loughrey
"This was my first time in Karelia. I loved everything: the environment, the treatment facilities, the effective treatments, the good food, and the varied evening entertainment. I'll try to come back again. With gratitude, Larisa Maksimovna Bychkova, St. Petersburg."
Лариса Бычкова
"The sanatorium needs to be closed for major repairs, it is dangerous to be in it. I spent two weeks with my family, minimal treatment, baths, mud, springs. The rest is extra. The bathroom section consists of old rusty bathtubs, rusty pipes, tiles partially falling off the walls, rotten wooden benches. Mud baths are like a torture room, I have never seen anything like this anywhere.
The food is very limited and must be ordered in advance from the proposed menu. Old cheap dishes in the dining room, for vegetables in the form of grated carrots and cabbage, sometimes beets, queues for the entire dining room. The pool has not seen any renovation since it opened. There is no kettle, no hairdryer, no air conditioning in the rooms. The floor tiles on the balcony had fallen off. The plumbing is old. The sanatorium is in the middle of nowhere, with only a grocery store and a souvenir shop nearby. Walk only in the forest, the area is not landscaped. Water flows in places along the corridors, leaving rust marks, mold and fallen plaster! How the sanatorium received a medical license is not clear!!! I don’t recommend it to anyone, ruin your vacation for a lot of money."

If you're considering a family trip, it's advisable to inquire directly about any specific activities or facilities suitable for children.
