What Travellers Say

Reviews Summary

Visitors often praise the historical explanations and the immersive, theatrical nature of some Gzhel experiences. However, some find the hype outweighs the reality, with high prices and long queues for products. The quality of the baked goods, like kalachi, receives mixed reviews, with some finding them delicious and others underwhelmed. Reddit

"Awesome theatrical history explanation. Museum where they feed you. I insist that all museums must be like this"

Anatoly Tarasenko

"You can't get into the museum without an appointment, so we didn't. Otherwise, it's a pretty ordinary kalach, and you shouldn't expect much from it. It's only tasty when fresh. To the left of the museum is a tiny, atmospheric shop selling "to-go kalachi," and to the right is just a small window selling them, even with fillings. Lines are everywhere. But around the corner to the right, there's another kalach stand and a few outdoor tables. The line is shorter there. The goose is quite good."

Инокентий

"I liked the theatrical tour with an interesting and funny story about the history of kalachs. The guys were great, they worked cheerfully, actively involving the audience. By the end of the performance they treated me to a kalach with tea and butter. Frankly speaking, I didn’t like the kalach and the tea was almost cold. So the desire to buy a kalach hasn’t arisen yet. But people were actively buying, maybe I have a picky taste."
