What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Engelhardt Astronomical Observatory for its educational and immersive experiences, particularly the star theater shows and knowledgeable guides. The historical aspect of the observatory is also a significant draw. However, some guests have noted that lectures can be lengthy for younger audiences, and there have been isolated incidents of less-than-ideal staff interactions.
"The place was fantastic! My daughter and I went to see a fulldome cartoon, and they gave us a tour and a lecture about the planets of the solar system beforehand. It was very interesting, although the lecture was a bit long for preschoolers, but schoolchildren and adults alike would love it. The star theater itself is very nice, and watching movies there is a truly mesmerizing experience."

"Every summer I go to especially beautiful places near the city, drag my sisters there for a fun adventure and a tough vibe.
The observatory became our destination on Children's Day and, as a cruel joke, we ran into the incompetence of an employee on this very day in relation to a child.
We came there with a child with ASD (autism spectrum disorder), saturating his eyes with various beauties and interactivity. We got to a lecture in a live format, where we were reprimanded not in the spirit of a laconic request to keep quiet, but public humiliation and poking about their status as a teacher at the university. If we talk about this, then you can find fault with the content of the lecture itself. It felt like it was improvised from the head, and not a pre-prepared text, a lot of "aa, uh", some sighs, as if the person had unloaded a wagon before. I work with different children myself and understand what their behavior can be, but the child did not make noise for the whole room, but rather was delighted with the presentation on the dome for no longer than 10 seconds, and then fell silent altogether.
The feeling from watching was spoiled, although the presentation itself stirred our vestibular apparatus with a plus sign.
There are no complaints about the observatory territory, it is clean, well-groomed, beautiful and quiet. A pleasant place for contemplative silence.
They suggested visiting the observatory on a weekday, when there will be a voice recording, but I am a working person and I do not have the opportunity to allocate time for this trip on a weekday, firstly, I do not have the opportunity, and secondly, I no longer express the desire."

"Great place, I didn't want to leave. With such history of the observatory and scientific stories, even 3 hours is not enough.
The guide Georgy gave a wonderful, interesting, dense lecture. It is pleasant and exciting to listen to such competent people with the ability to present information and find an approach to all group members, because there are people who do not know how to listen and prevent others from delving into the process. Georgy managed to present everything efficiently and with humor. And he himself is a charming and kind man. Thanks to the entire observatory team for their work and education of people interested in science and space"
