What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Theatre Square is a large, concrete public space that draws mixed reviews. While some find it plain and lacking maintenance, others appreciate the modern aesthetic and the impressive National Theatre building. It can be a good spot for a stroll, especially on weekends when traffic is closed, and the nearby gelateria offers a sweet escape.
"This place looks like a rock. Boring, plain, sad. The fountain is borderline abandoned (the one in the parking lot was never even probably turned on), vibe only comes from the pigeons and gelateria nearby, too much concrete, although the christmas shop brings the vibe(in the winter). The fountain needs fixing."

"The place is not good maintained and there absolutley no touristic markings. The view is nice, but practicley thats it. The two Shopping centers on the right and left sides are overpriced and with bad quality, the Theater dosent has any program for visitors and there are no interesting restaurants in the area. The bus station dosent has any cover in case the Weather is rainy and during winter is slippery becouse they never clean it."

"A good place to hang out. A lot of young people."

The Architectural Heart: National Theatre
While the square itself may lack greenery or extensive amenities, the presence of the National Theatre elevates the area. It’s a structure that captures the eye and can make one 'forget about the all concrete plaza,' as one reviewer put it. For those interested in architecture or seeking a visually striking element, the National Theatre is undoubtedly the main draw.
It's worth noting that while the theatre itself might host performances, information on visitor programs or tours specifically for the building within the square context is not readily available, according to user feedback.
Navigating the Concrete Landscape
Despite the lack of natural elements, the square serves as a gathering space, particularly for young people. On weekends, the closure of car traffic transforms it into a more pedestrian-friendly zone, offering a different experience and a sense of openness. This pedestrianization can make it a more pleasant place for a stroll, allowing visitors to appreciate the scale of the space without the interruption of vehicles.
Practical considerations include the bus station, which has been noted for lacking cover and not being adequately cleaned in winter, leading to slippery conditions. This highlights that while the aesthetic is modern, the practical amenities might not always match visitor expectations.
