"In the desire to restore the old monastic hearths, among others, this monastic hearth was revived in 2001 under the name of Basarabi Monastery, with the patron saint of “Saint Hierarch Teotim”, a saint of the third century from the time when there were also cave churches in Basarabi. In 2005, the candle of faith was rekindled on this monastic hearth through the actual establishment of the Basarabi Monastery when two monks were sent to this place. With the help of good Christians and local authorities, the construction of a chapel church and a body of cells next to the old monastic hearth was succeeded, with the subsequent construction of a large church and the other annexes necessary for the monastery. This place will truly be a beacon of faith, because due to its positioning, the monastery is located on the plateau of the hill that guards the city of Murfatlar and its surroundings, this fact resembling the word of scripture "how can a city be hidden when it stands on top of a mountain". The monastery does not hide, but is like a guiding ray to Heaven for the salvation of man, for all those who step on the threshold of this holy place for their spiritual benefit, because this is how it befits a place of prayer and piety, to carry forward this holy goal, "Salvation, helping all Christians on this difficult climb of our life supported by the teachings and useful words of the monastic fathers. Thus, the monastery is located, by its position, closer to heaven, to which it guides souls."
