What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Mogosoaia Palace is highly praised for its beautiful park and lake, offering a serene escape with picturesque views. While the interior exhibits are less of a draw for some, the stunning grounds and architecture make it a worthwhile visit, especially for a relaxing day out or a picnic. It's easily accessible from Bucharest and offers great photographic opportunities.
"Visit only if you have a lot of time and tired of central Bucharest. The buildings are almost empty and not worth visiting the inside which costs 15 + 20 lei. Just walk on the outside and be in the park around which is beautiful with the lake. Get off bus 436 according to Google map then walk straight from the station into the area without walking around the park, google shows longer way. Expect about 2-3 hours stay at the park."

"I highly recommend it! I visited in February when it was snowing, and the landscape was absolutely breathtaking. I can only imagine how beautiful it must be in spring, with the sunshine and blossoming flowers! Plus, it’s close to Bucharest, making it easy to visit!
Update : went back in summer and it’s definitely worth it!!!"

"Great experience! The night of museums! We had free entry to all buildings. It's a place full of history, I really enjoyed it☺️
(Some expo rooms may be a bit too simplistic for my taste)"

Exploring the Mogosoaia Palace Park
Beyond just walking, the park provides excellent opportunities for photography, with the palace's elegant architecture serving as a stunning backdrop. Whether you're capturing the reflections in the lake or the vibrant colors of the flora, the park is a photographer's delight. It's also a great place for families to let children run around and enjoy the open space.
While the park is the main attraction for many, it's worth noting that some of the smaller structures, like the church, might be closed during your visit. However, the overall experience of the grounds is so positive that these minor closures rarely detract from the enjoyment.
Understanding the Palace Interior Experience
However, for those interested in history and art, the palace does offer insights into the past. There are often temporary exhibitions, such as glass-making displays, that can add an interesting dimension to your visit. If you do choose to explore the interiors, consider it an addition to the main attraction of the grounds, rather than the primary reason for your visit.
It's also worth noting that some facilities within the grounds, like a greenhouse, may appear closed permanently. This reinforces the idea that the palace's strength lies in its natural setting and architectural presence rather than extensive indoor collections.
Practicalities for Your Mogosoaia Palace Visit
When it comes to ticketing, be aware that there might be separate fees for the palace buildings and the grounds. Some visitors feel the cost should be primarily for accessing the park, given its appeal. It's a good idea to allocate about 2-3 hours for your visit to comfortably explore the park and enjoy the scenery.
Dining options include an on-site restaurant, and the park is well-suited for picnics, offering flexibility for different preferences and budgets. Remember to check for any special events, like 'Night of Museums,' which can offer unique access and experiences.
