Along with its rich history, the castle still has many of its Gothic architectural features, some remaining frescoes, endless staircases, passages, rooms and towers to explore. A whole lot of fun.
We managed to get there just as it was opening, and being the first ones to enter had the castle to ourselves, at least for a short while.
Definitely one of my favourite castles in Romania."

The inscription near the well, in Old Slavonic, reads 'Water has a heart,' adding to the castle's mystique. The castle is also rumored to have connections to Vlad the Impaler, the inspiration for Bram Stoker's Dracula, though historical evidence for this is debated.
The castle has undergone several reconstructions and restorations over the centuries, most notably in the 19th century, which helped preserve its grandeur for modern visitors. Today, it stands as one of Romania's largest and most impressive medieval castles, a testament to its historical importance and architectural beauty.
