Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Ethnographic Museum Brașov for its well-preserved exhibits and passionate staff, particularly highlighting the detailed textile production displays and the recreated rug making facility. While the museum is small and primarily in Romanian, the audio guide is highly recommended for a richer understanding. Some wish for broader cultural context beyond textiles.

"Cute little museum, the staff is very helpful even though very few materials are available in languages different than Romanian (and the app for the audio guide in EN needs fixing). All costumes and exhibits are in excellent condition, with vibrant colors and well cared for. I mostly went in to support a small local museum and found it well worth the time (between 0,5 and 1 hour) and money (2 EUR)."

Ellie

"The museum is small but the exhibits are well laid out and in great condition. The focus is very much on the textile manufacture and clothing. What made this an excellent museum for me was the videos showing the various techniques for producing and working the textiles.

What would make this a little better is some more contextual information about the culture outside of the textiles.

A neat idea would be the ability to buy intro kits for some of the techniques (like cross stitch, embroidery etc). Could be great for the kids."

Daniel Jaime

"Fantastic experience, once again.

It made me think of my grandaunt, who was a theatre tailor in Vienna before the end of WW2, then she took her atelier to the countryside.

I loved the fact that they recreated an old rug making facility (fantastic craftsmanship and construction- a pleasure to watch).

If you are not Romanian, and also don't speak any Roman languages or German (I do, so it wasn't a big issue)- you WILL need the audio guide.

Also, I recommend buying the museum pass.

The art and communism museums are next door- I recommend to also see them. If you take the pass, you can then see the art museum for free."
