Reviews Summary

Casa del Libro offers a unique glimpse into printing history with its 15th-century press and historical map exhibits. While the rare book collection requires a costly advance booking, the accessible displays and knowledgeable staff provide a worthwhile cultural stop in Old San Juan. Some visitors find the non-appointment experience limited in scope.

"Great place! They have a 15th century printing press."

Eric G Ruiz

"An excellent place to stop for some culture. If you want to look at any of the old books you have to schedule that ahead of time though. While we were disappointed not to see anything from theor old collection of books and documents, we still enjoyed the current art on display. The staff was very knowledgeable and informative of what they did have on display. Definitely worth a stop."

Kevin M

"A surprise gem in San Juan! The Book Museum is definitely a place I will visit again, except next time, I will follow the process so I can see the antique book exhibit. Without an appointment, you can tour an interesting article exhibit, an area with reproduction printing presses, and their bookstore/gift shop where you can support local writers and artists. One of the local artists was kind enough to spend half an hour describing the printing presses and their workings. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and very outgoing. I made a point of buying some of his works in the gift shop to show my appreciation. Great find and I will be back!"
