What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Forte de Albarquel for its stunning bay views and the convenience of its adjacent beach, Albarquel. The free admission and the thoughtfully renovated historical space are significant draws. While the fort itself is used for events, its primary appeal lies in its picturesque location and the relaxing beach experience.
"Forte de Albarquel is now a good place for a quick visit. It was renovated and is used for local government meetings and other small groups (up to 40). It consists of a very large patio overlooking the beach of Albarquel, inside is the main hall with arched ceiling and on the side is a renovated kitchen area. The main attraction here is that you are at Albarquel beach! This beach is beautiful, inside a slight cove in the bay. You can hardly believe you are 1km from Setúbal. Just get to Albarquel early (8:00 am) to get parking or you´ll have to park on the main road. I will mention you have two cafe bars on the beach and a larger restaurant also on the beach."
