What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Hikers generally praise the Serra Devassa Trail for its stunning natural beauty, particularly its numerous lakes and panoramic viewpoints. The trail offers a rewarding experience with its diverse landscapes, from exposed ridges to magical forested paths. However, visitors should be prepared for unpredictable weather and potential navigation challenges due to spotty cell service.
"Pretty nice hike. Much of the trail was exposed with no trees, which in cloudy windy weather can be unpleasant or exciting, depending on your constitution. We went clockwise and headed straight for the path through the trees, which was magical even without sun…actually it may have been even more beautiful because of the fog. The rest of the hike would probably have been nicer if it were sunnier, but that wasn’t the weather we got. Still pretty lovely!"

"A quiet lake, wrapped in dense green, feeling like a hidden retreat. A short, scenic trail leads you to the breathtaking Miradouro da Boca do Inferno, one of the Azores' highlights. It is a peaceful, beautiful escape into nature, embodying the serene spirit that characterizes the Azores."
Bruno Magalhaes
"We visited end of February, on a Saturday, and it started out with a lack of people, although our weather was also very unfavourable. We couldn’t see in front of us, and only ran into other people about 2 hrs into our hike. The top of the mountain was a little sketchy with the wind, but definitely something we won’t forget. I think because
Of the lack of visibility it was hard to determine the trail to get back to our vehicle. It’s a loop trail system but since there’s about 4 trails here, the initial one you take in and one you need to take to the parking lot are not the same & causes some confusion - I highly recommend getting a picture of the map as I lost cell service, and ran into others who had the same issue.
Overall it’s a decent hike with a lot of hills - would definitely recommend, rain or shine!"
