I visited Miradouro do Pico do Ferro on May 20th, and wow, what a view! If you're on São Miguel, you really have to go here.
From up high, you get to see so much. When I was there, the rhododendrons were beautiful, bursting with color and making the whole place look even prettier. But the best part is definitely the awesome view of Furnas Lake way down below. It's so peaceful and just stretches out wonderfully.
This spot isn't just pretty; it's also super important! The whole area, especially the Furnas volcano crater, is a very important part of the Azores UNESCO Global Geopark. We parked in the lower parking lot. It is a short walk up to the lookout. No need to really drive up unless you have mobility concerns.
