"An interesting museum covering the archaeological finds related to the sugar trade in Madeira and information on the production of sugar.
It is free entry, so I am surprised that it is not busy.
All the exhibits have signage in both Portuguese and English. There are several replica exhibits which are designed to be handled presumably by non sighted people. There are also guide books in braille available throughout the museum.
There is lift access to both floors of the museum and plenty of seating throughout.
Overall we spent about an hour here.
There was a short film showing the harvest and preparation of sugar cane."

"The museum shows and tells the history of Madeira between 15th and 19th century. It was free when we went. When you enter the museum you are handed a guide in English or other languages which you hand back at the end. You need about an hour or under to visit. Check when the museum is open, as most museums are closed on Sunday and Monday."

Lynn Higgins

"Sweet (!) and quiet sugar museum, worth a visit, very modern, clean and well maintained building as are all museums in Madeira. Free entry."
