. . . #terceiraisland #nakedplanet #nature #travelstoke #ourplanetdaily #earthpix #volcanic #lonelyplanet #natgeo #azores #açores #portugal #exploretocreate #eart...

Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about Algar do Carvão, calling it an absolutely beautiful and fantastic experience, like stepping into a fantasy movie or the 'eye of the Earth'. The unique opportunity to walk inside a volcano is a major highlight, with many appreciating the geological formations, lush vegetation, and the volcanic lake. Some note that tickets are a bit pricey and opening times can be restrictive, but these are often seen as necessary for preservation.

"Absolutely beautiful!
Free parking and easy road access
Ticket isn’t too expensive, but on the higher side.
Be careful about opening times! As they only open for a couple of hours every day, and aren’t open every day of the week.
The cave itself is beautiful. Although it can get a bit crowded."

Matyas Aviation

"An amazing sight to visit for sure, but don't miss the amazing hiking trail that starts and ends here.

It is a 6.2 km circular trail that takes you through the nearby Furnas do Enxofre to the west. It is a moderately challenging trail with a variety of scenery and absolutely spectacular and worth your time.

As the caves do not open until 2 PM, I suggest coming early and doing the trail at 10 AM so you will have a bit of a break after looping back around and still be the first in line to go into the cave. It's a perfect way to end your hike as the cave is quite a bit cooler than the area around it.

Bring a snack and water as there's few options to eat nearby."

"One of the rare places in the world where it is possible to live the experience of being inside a volcano. The experience is simply fantastic and unmissable."
