"St. ELIZABETH CHURCH ⛪️
The house of prayer that is the garrison church is one of the most important city temples, a foundation of Wrocław patricians, a symbol of Wrocław's ambitions and possibilities. The current minor basilica, whose patron saint is St. Elizabeth of Hungary, has been destroyed many times, but its splendor and beauty have always been restored. The temple is the church of the military parish of St. Elizabeth, which was erected on January 12, 1993. On May 31, 1997, after years of reconstruction, the Wrocław parish church was consecrated by the Holy Father John Paul II. On March 15, 1998, a territorial military-civil parish was established. Since that date, not only the faithful of the civil parish, but also soldiers, officers, employees of the Wrocław Garrison and their families have gathered within its walls for prayer. The temple, a place of daily prayer, also becomes the center of religious and patriotic celebrations and a center of prayer meetings of an ecumenical nature, as well as a place of exhibitions, music concerts and theatrical events. The Gothic walls, having the features of the individual style of Silesian sacral architecture, host a rich collection of exceptional works of art: numerous stone epitaphs and sculptures from different periods, an early Baroque altar, a lofty sacramentarium, Gothic stalls, a pulpit, a royal gallery intended in the 18th century for the ruler of the then Silesia.
Inviting you to the Wrocław Basilica, we direct the words of the church's patron saint, St. Elizabeth of Hungary, to the visitors: "We must make others happy." May the wish of this European saint accompany us on every day of our earthly journey, God bless."
