Reviews Summary

Visitors appreciate the Evangelical Church of St. James for its historical significance and well-maintained grounds. The 19th-century altar and Rococo pulpit are highlighted as beautiful interior features. However, some find the limited and inconsistent opening hours frustrating, preventing them from seeing the interior.

"The church was built in the 1830s. The tower was added only after 25 years, because the regulations at the time prohibited the construction of such structures, as well as placing the main entrance on the road side. The church's equipment dates back to the 19th century. The altar, funded by steelworkers from Ustroń, Trzyniec and Frydek, is particularly noteworthy. The Rococo pulpit from the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries is also beautiful. The tower contains three bells cast in Germany. Near the church is the building of the former Evangelical school and a cemetery founded in the mid-19th century."

"Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession, the construction of the temple was completed in 1838. The characteristic tower was added in 1856-1857. Three bells hang on the tower, their names are Faith, Hope and Love, the heaviest of them weighs 1,309 kg."

"Church of The Apostle James the Elder is a must-see when in Ustroń.
Built in 1835-1838, dedicated in 1838.
The tower was added in 1865.
The temple looks beautiful outside, the surrounding area is also very well-kept, you can see the hand of a good host.
I saw photos of the interior of the church on the Internet - very beautiful, modest.
The leaflet and map with the attractions of Ustroń state that the church is open to tourists daily from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Despite everything, I took the risk and unfortunately, on June 1, around 5 p.m., the church was already closed, so I have to subtract one star - the same situation happened to me in Wisła.

It is a pity that such an important facility is closed, it could be open to visitors, e.g. from 10:00 to 18:00. I hope that next time I will be able to see the inside of the temple.
It is worth taking a walk here and learning about the history of the evangelicals of Ustroń - the church is about 800 m away from the market square."

A Glimpse into Ustroń's Evangelical Heritage

The Evangelical Church of St. James stands as a testament to the historical presence and resilience of the Evangelical community in Ustroń. Construction began in the 1830s, with the distinctive tower added about two decades later in 1856-1857. This delay in tower construction was due to regulations that initially prohibited such structures and main entrances facing the road. The church's equipment largely dates back to the 19th century, reflecting the era of its establishment. Reddit+1

Key interior features include a notable altar funded by steelworkers from Ustroń, Trzyniec, and Frydek, symbolizing the community's collective spirit. The Rococo pulpit, dating from the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, is another significant artistic element. The tower itself is home to three bells cast in Germany, named Faith, Hope, and Love, with the heaviest weighing an impressive 1,309 kg. Reddit
