What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Kórnik Castle is praised as a 'hidden treasure' with a rich history and a beautiful, intimate feel. Visitors enjoy the well-preserved interiors and the adjacent Arboretum, especially during spring and autumn. However, some find the ticket pricing high for the amenities offered, and a lack of English information inside the castle is noted as a drawback.
"From Poznań, the town of Kórnik is a nice excursion. Here you can visit the small and manageable Kórnik Castle. The neo-Gothic castle was built in the mid-19th century by order of the Polish Działyński family. In addition to the neo-Gothic, you can discover elements of orientalism that was fashionable in the 19th century both inside and outside. The castle was partly designed by the German architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel. In the 1920s, the Polish state acquired the castle together with the art collection and the adjacent 40-hectare arboretum. You can visit the living quarters of the castle on two floors. The rooms are fully furnished and the most diverse objects and artefacts are exhibited in numerous display cases. Despite its wealth, the castle feels very intimate. On the outside, the castle is surrounded by a moat. There has been a castle on this site since the 15th century.
From Poznań you can travel to Kórnik by public transport within 1 hour. You can do this by bus from the train station «Poznań Główny - Dworzec Autobusowy». However, for us it was more convenient to travel from the centre of Poznań by tram to the stop «Rondo Rataje» and then change to the bus at the large bus station. We spent almost an entire day visiting Kórnik Castle and the arboretum.
The entrance fee for the castle and arboretum is low and the audio tour for the castle is definitely worth it. In Kórnik you will also find a few shops and a few restaurants, cafés, ice cream parlours, terraces and snack bars. Make it a pleasant trip and enjoy a day outside the big city!"

"Average with expensive ticket for entry even there is no restroom, for someone want to know more about culture and history, but for me definitely not recommend or come back!"

"Zamek v Korniku is a true hidden treasure! The rich history of its owners adds an intriguing layer to the experience, making every visit feel like a journey through time. The beautiful garden, adorned with an array of plants and trees from the Caucasus and Middle East, is a botanical marvel. It's not just a garden; it's a living tapestry of cultures and landscapes. Exploring the grounds is a delight for the senses, and it's the perfect complement to the fascinating history of the castle. Truly a must-visit destination for history buffs and nature enthusiasts alike!😌🥰🥰"
