"This is another Catholic Basilica dating back to 1223 AD and was built with beautifully designed interior vaulted ceilings, archways and ornate Gothic style features. It is amazing to see the opulent decorations, intricate frescoes, and ornate altarpieces that adorn the walls and ceilings of the basilica. The main altar is stunning, and there are several secondary altars/chapels located throughout the basilica. Each one of these is dedicated to a different saint or relic. Today, it also houses a monastery of the “Order of Preachers,” which is not open to the public. The basilica is located just a few blocks south of Main Market Square and is open to the public with no entry fee. This is another must-see church in Krakow, a city with many magnificent churches. Finally, the tranquil atmosphere and breathtaking beauty of this basilica make it the perfect place to reflect, pray, or simply soak up the history and culture of this incredible city. Final note, be respectful of the patrons of the basilica during Mass services."
