What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Gliwice Railway Station is praised for its modern, clean facilities and efficient layout following its recent renovation. Travelers appreciate the clear signage and the convenient pedestrian tunnel connecting to the coach terminal. However, some visitors find the toilet facilities expensive and note that not all staff are fluent in English.
"Located in the city center of Gliwice, this train station is the second largest in the Upper Silesian urban area. Thanks to the reconstruction in 2015-2016, the station and the platforms have a modern appearance and the guidance system is clear and easily understandable. The station is connected to cities abroad via EuroCity services, various cities in Poland via PKP Express Intercity Premium (EIP), Intercity (IC), and to various regional cities via Polregio as well as Koleje Śląskie services. A pedestrian tunnel connects the train station and the coach terminal. During my visit to Gliwice, the station was clean and the trains were all on time. Unfortunately, not all service staff speak English, but you can change the language at the ticket machines, so it is no problem to buy tickets."

"A beautiful transport hub that actually gives priority to pedestrians, with a nice square with lots of benches and trees, giving easy access to the main tourist street in the city on the front. In addition to this, there is bus station in the back which enables easy transfers for onward travel. If the city still had trams, it would be even better, but you can't have everything."

Modernization and Accessibility
The station prioritizes pedestrian access, with a pleasant square featuring benches and trees located at the front, providing a welcoming entry point to the city's main tourist street. Furthermore, a crucial element of its design is the pedestrian tunnel that seamlessly connects the train station with the adjacent coach terminal, facilitating efficient transfers for those continuing their journey by bus.
While the station is equipped with multilingual ticket machines, it's worth noting that not all service staff are fluent in English. This is a common aspect of many European transport hubs, and travelers are advised to utilize the self-service options or have basic Polish phrases handy for smoother interactions.
Connectivity and Travel Options
For regional travel, Polregio and Koleje Śląskie services are readily available, ensuring connectivity to surrounding towns and cities. The integration with the coach terminal, accessible via a direct pedestrian tunnel, further enhances its role as a comprehensive travel hub. This allows for easy onward journeys via bus to destinations not directly served by rail.
Travelers have reported that trains are generally on time, contributing to a reliable travel experience. The station's strategic location and extensive network make it an excellent starting or ending point for exploring the Silesian region and beyond.
