However in 1943 its bronze sculptures were confiscated and melted down for the German war effort, and it wouldn’t be until 2004 that Bydgoszcz could think about a restoration.
Process took 10 years, and this vital piece of the city’s heritage was officially unveiled in 2014, 110 years after the original.
