What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Lipowiec Castle for its well-kept ruins and stunning hilltop views, making it a great stop on road trips. The adjacent Heritage Park offers a charming glimpse into traditional life. Some wish for more English signage and note the tower's narrow stairs can be challenging.
"Nice, well kept and not too small castle to for a short visit. We needed somewhere to stop for a break on a road trip to the mountains in the south and found this: A nice castle on a hill a short walk from the car park (I think the only access is through a woodland path so many not great if someone has mobility issues). You can view many of the rooms and levels in the castle and go all the way to the top of the keep which has a viewing platform with amazing views. There's a museum and cafe there too. Would be good to have the museum infomation signs in English too, but some of the other signs around the castle did have English translations. My young son loved it and so did the rest of the family, a great little find."

"We were exploring the hauntingly beautiful Zamek Lipowiec 🏰 today. Nestled high on a limestone hill in Wygiełzów, this medieval ruin once served as a bishop’s fortress—and later, a prison. Let’s just say... hiding among centuries-old stone walls wasn’t exactly easy 😅. But the climb was worth every step—the panoramic view from the top? Absolutely breathtaking. You can see all the way to the Beskid Mountains on a clear day 🌄.
If you're into history, mystery, and a bit of cardio, this place is a must."

"Beautiful remains of a castle on the top of hill. Unfortunately, there are no interesting exhibitions. There are two rooms with weapons, that's all they found here. The tower offers a beautiful view, but it will not be easy for people with claustrophobia or children under 5 years old. The width of the stairs to climb is the width of an ordinary person. I don’t advise anyone who has claustrophobia to go up the tower."
