Reviews Summary

Ybycuí National Park is praised for its stunning waterfalls, rich butterfly populations, and historical iron foundry ruins. Visitors appreciate the peaceful nature experience and opportunities for swimming and bird watching. However, some find trail signage unclear and note occasional litter.

"Ybycúi National Park is much more than just waterfalls! The park has a rich historical area, beautiful trails, and is full of butterflies of different species. There are perfect spots for a swim, but no sheltered camp grounds inside the park. Salto Mina is easy to access, which makes it quite touristy (especially on the weeksends and during school holidays). The rest of the park offers a peaceful nature experience."

Travel Light

"If you enjoy bird watching, light hikes and scenic drives through the forest, this is the place for you. Also, if you are familiar with Paraguay, you know that deforestation is a huge issue - so it is very unique to see a protected forest.

We were able to do two hikes from the main recreation area (Salto Mina and the hike behind the recreation center). We wanted to hike to two other waterfalls on the other side of the park, but there was so signage so we drove around for a couple of hours without luck (so my suggestion is to get exact, exact instructions. We followed the general instruction of "go down this road 7 km". There must be a turn off or more instructions because we never found the other trails. Overall, still a good visit.

We went in a low car so there were some scraps and bumps along the way, but the car made it through the park.

I also recommend going to the iron factory museum. Very interesting history - per the signage, the factory was one of the first iron factories in the Americas. It was operational in the mid 1850s (I think 1854)."

"Very nice national park with a nice trail! Unfortunately a bit of trash during the trail and if you come from the east route (quite a while on dirtroads) there is no clear indication that it costs money."
