What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Loloata Island Resort offers stunning natural beauty and a tranquil escape, with many guests praising the friendly staff and beautiful overwater suites. However, some visitors have experienced issues with room readiness, slow service, and inconsistencies in dining and billing, suggesting room for improvement in operational efficiency.
"The staff were super friendly and very polite.
However these were somethings we experienced that didn’t make the trip smooth.
- Check in was at 2pm but we didn’t arrive it’ll 445pm only to be told our room wasn’t ready and had to be given another room.
- There are very limited boat times from the mainland to the island.
If you wanted to go to the mainland for the night out you couldn’t as there isn’t a night boat available.
- We couldn’t even have guests visit the island for the evening (eg. dinner) even though one of the boat staff offered to give a lift back to the mainland at a later time. Really inconvenient if you have relatives.
- Slow service: Order room service and waited 2 hours for food. Had to constantly call to check on food. Were told “on its way”. When food arrived it was cold and missing half the order. Had to wait another 30mins for the rest of the order.
- We arrived to a room to find one of the wheels on our bed to be broken. Informed reception twice and nothing was done about it had to call the following day and express more urgency for it to be done."

"Great location... but a lot of improvement needed!
We checked into the resort by 2.00 pm. However, we notice that there was a big rush by everyone to get into their cabins. Therefore we opted have lunch at the restaurant until 3.30 pm., and informed the front desk staff of the same.
Why we needed the buggy was our cabin, No. 51 (Overview suite) was at the very corner of the property and nearly 1km away from the main lobby area. (Heads up - Not advisable!)
Lunch was nice, we loved the Kokoda (although it could have used some Cilantro) & the Bahn Mi Baguette.
However, the buggies weren't charged so we weren't taken to our room with our luggage until 4.15 - 4.30pm. Not the most pleasant experience when it is hot, we are tired after a long drive, a boat ride and travelling with a child.
Room seemed clean & tidy at first glance, however... why was it called "suite"? It was a room which was smaller than average, not even big enough to accommodate a comfortable chair inside the room. Or even space large enough to open 2 x 7kg suitcase. And the layout seems rather impractical, especially the location of the tea & coffee station, dust bin, mini fridge.
There is no Bottled water in the rooms. Water that is available for drinking was hard as nails and unpalatable. The prices of Bottled water is way too high, especially given there is a "no outside drinks allowed" policy. This is a deal breaker for me. Be mindful when travelling with children.
One meal was Seafood Aglio Olio Fettuccine & Thai Chicken Curry with Rice.
The Aglio Olio Pasta was really bland, with no garlic & no parmesan. Very dissapointing as it lacked depth & flavour. When I asked a server for some parmesan cheese to sprinkle on top, she returned saying "no parmesan available".
The That Chicken Curry was pretty bland too, as it lacked the typical Thai Flavours, such as Lemongrass & Kaffir Lime.
Another meal consisted of a pizza, which was not too flavorful as it was doused with BBQ sauce and made almost unpalatable. When we asked for some tobacco sauce, we were brought after tiny bit in a small dish. Rather strange as we had no intention to run off with the bottle. 😂
There was also descrepancies in billing, as they had billed for items we didnt order or consume. And one person had signed on behalf pretending to be me. Be aware of instances such as these. No bills were brought after each meal for signatures until we raised it with the management.
The swimming pool rules were very lax, as there were people jumping into the pool in hot & sweaty day clothes, not in proper swim attire. This made the pool experience very unpleasant for everyone else.
Meal times were rather dull & boring. Especially since there was no live music.
However despite all this, we must commend the staff who were trying their best to give the best possible solutions & services with a smile & a lot of grace. They tried to go out of their way to make our stay comfortable even when there were things that was obviously beyond their control. Special mention of Emmanuel & Romesh who went above & beyond.
We sincerely hope the management notices their hard work and does changes in infrastructure, technology & processes that make their lives easier so that the guests have the best possible experience & all the staff efforts are not in vain."

"Lovely place for a day trip.
I was picked up from my hotel at 7.30am and arrived at the jetty shortly after 8. Had to wait until 9.10 for the ferry to depart which was a little frustrating but there's a comfortable air conditioned waiting rooms and toilets available. The boat was larger than I expected. You can sit inside or on the top deck (it's a steep ladder up). The journey only took 15 minutes and felt calm despite the high winds.
On arrival there's no check in or orientation to where you are, you just go and find what you want. Both the pool and beach areas are very nice. The hiking trail is a little difficult to find, mainly because the gate is locked. I asked at the desk though and a security guard let me go round. The trail leads to West Beach which is a really nice spot and I can imagine it gets a beautiful sunset. You can then walk up along the ridge at the highest part of the island for more views. Keep an eye out for the cute little kangaroos too.
Departure is at 3.15pm if you want to get the last of the resort transport back to town. It's a 30 minute drive in a minivan without AC, but more convenient than trying to get a taxi.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend it as a trip out from the city. Just drops a star for inconsistent communication (eg prices and times we're different on the website to the attachments emailed to the information in the email text!) and the hour wait between bus and ferry."
