What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the stunning panoramic views of El Valle de Antón from the summit, calling the hike amazing and beautiful. The unique experience of seeing fireflies after sunset is a major highlight. However, the challenging gravel road to the parking area requires a 4x4 vehicle, and some find the hike itself steep.
"Beautiful landscape, we've been here on a Friday and there was absolutely no one around! The trails are easy to find and they are not do difficult.
The parking space is only accessible with a good AWD. In our case the Toyota Fortuner did an excellent job. High recommended!!!"

"The google maps guides were good in the city streets. Once I got to the place I had to use “all trails” to find my way to the top. So just take the main trail to get to the ranger cabin and from there a single trail takes you to the top with nice view of the Anton valley"

"Really an amazing hike! You get a beautiful view of the town when you make it to the top. The hike up the gravel road is the most challenging part, it's extremely steep. We went the beginning of April and the wind was wild! Made for a very unique experience."

A wide-angle lens is great for capturing the expansive valley views. If you plan to photograph fireflies, a tripod and a camera with good low-light performance are essential.
The summit provides the most iconic viewpoints. Keep an eye out for interesting flora and fauna along the trail for close-up shots.
Be patient and use a long exposure setting on your camera. Avoid using flash, as it will scare the fireflies away and ruin the natural ambiance.

Navigating the Terrain: Vehicle and Trail Advice
Once on the trail, it's generally considered moderately difficult, featuring rocky sections and noticeable inclines. While the path to the ranger cabin is usually straightforward, the final segment to the summit is a single trail that can be less obvious. This is where having an offline map downloaded on your smartphone becomes invaluable for staying on course and avoiding detours.
Remember to pack essentials like water, snacks, and sun protection. During the rainy season (March to November), be prepared for potential downpours and be aware of the increased risk of lightning at the exposed summit. Hiking with a companion during this time is strongly advised for safety.
