Reviews Summary

Visitors find the Bin Ali Tomb a serene and historically significant Islamic site, appreciating its tranquil atmosphere and the architectural style. However, many note a lack of English information, making it difficult for non-Arabic speakers to understand the full context of Sahib Mirbat's life and achievements.

"Maulana Sayyed Muhammad bin Ali is a descendant of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) through Imam Jafar as Sadiq (as). Originally from Tarim in Hadhramaut, Yemen, he was a well known and learned Islamic scholar of his time and moved to Mirbat to help provide for the spiritual welfare of the Dhofari people and set up religious institutions. Due to his high spiritual status, he is referred to by the title of Sahib e Mirbat (the Master of Mirbat).

His grave is located in a modest but well maintained shrine built in the local Dhofari / Omani style near the graveyard in Mirbat with an adjoining mosque. His genealogical tree, a list of his honorary titles and the transcript of his original tombstone can be viewed inside the shrine. The contemporary Ba Alawi Omani family trace their descent through him.

The only constructive feedback I'd have is for the custodians of the shrine to perhaps add some signs explaining who he was in English for non Arabic speakers or for those who are from non Muslim backgrounds and are passing through this area as he is a personality definitely worth learning about.

Quran 89:27-30: [To the righteous it will be said], “O reassured soul, Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him], And enter among My [righteous] servants And enter My Paradise.”"

"Interesting, but the only information in English is "taking pictures is forbidden while visitors in". Everything else is only in Arabic. So I still do not know who Bin Ali really was, what had he done or achieved... that is a pity."

"The mausoleum of Mohammed bin Ali Al Qalayi is truly a remarkable place to visit. This beautiful Islamic monument is located in Mirbat, Oman and is frequented by visitors and tourists from all over the world.

As you approach the mausoleum, one cannot help but take a step back in time. The design of the mausoleum is truly awe-inspiring.

Upon entering the mausoleum, the atmosphere is serene and calming. The air smells of fresh oud and incense, reminding visitors that they are in a sacred and significant place. Inside, visitors can see the tomb of Mohammed bin Ali Al Qalayi, and pay their respects to this remarkable Muslim scholar.

The mausoleum has been well-maintained. The ambience of the site is tranquil, which encourages reflection and contemplation. Visitors are encouraged to spend as much time as they need to absorb the atmosphere and importance of this historical site.

The mausoleum of Mohammed bin Ali Al Qalayi is a must-visit location in Oman. The beautiful serene atmosphere and sense of history all contribute to an unforgettable experience."
