What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
KODE 2 offers a compelling Edvard Munch collection and striking modern architecture, but some visitors find the level of supervision excessive, impacting the overall relaxed experience. While the art is appreciated, the cafe prices are noted as high.
"Our visit started off on the wrong foot when I was spoken to for simply pointing in the direction of a painting — no touching, no crowding, just a gesture. After that, we felt noticeably watched throughout the museum, which unfortunately made it hard to enjoy the experience.
We absolutely respect the importance of preserving artwork, but the level of supervision felt excessive for a quiet and respectful visit. It might be worth exploring ways to balance security with visitor comfort — such as more space around exhibits or protective barriers. Sadly, we left feeling uneasy rather than inspired."

"There wasn't much here when I went. The structure itself is quite beautiful and spacious, but too many of the exhibits were rather silly and self impressed in the same way that a lot of contemporary, post WWII art is. I was told be a guidebook that there was a lavish architectural bookstore here, but there isn't. There is, however, a cafe that charges 200 kroner ($20 usd) for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich."
