"We had such a wonderful experience here. We had 2 fancy coffees, a cinnamon bun and honey cheese cake. Both treats were delicious. After we enjoyed the atmosphere of the eclectic cafe, we moved over to the glass blowing area where we got to see a live demonstration of ornaments being made. The gentleman was informative of what he was doing and friendly! Definitely would recommend to make a stop in this town and this cafe on your travels! This is the best cafe… potentially on earth."

"As an architect, i am humbled when i see a building so utterly in tune with its environment. The studios speaks of its surroundings, and of them. The artists works on display speak volumes about the talent and skills involved, but the building itself is the crowning glory."

In-depth insights and expert knowledge
The Art of Glassblowing at Vikten
The art produced here is deeply inspired by the surrounding Lofoten landscape. You'll find pieces that echo the colors of the sea, the rugged cliffs, and the dramatic skies. Each item, whether a vase, bowl, or decorative object, carries a unique story and a connection to its environment. The gallery showcases a diverse range of these creations, making it a perfect place to find a truly special souvenir or a piece of art to adorn your home.
For those interested in the craft, observing the techniques used, such as 'tacking' pieces into place or the careful foiling and soldering for stained glass elements, can be incredibly insightful. While the focus is often on blown glass, the mention of stained glass techniques suggests a broader artistic scope.
Architectural Harmony with Nature
Architects and design enthusiasts often praise the building for its thoughtful design, which seems to emerge organically from the landscape. The use of materials and the building's form are carefully considered to reflect the rugged beauty of the cliffs and the ever-changing light of the Arctic. This thoughtful approach creates an immersive experience, where the art inside and the environment outside feel intrinsically connected.
This architectural synergy enhances the overall visitor experience, making a stop at Glasshytta Vikten a multi-sensory delight. It’s not just about viewing art; it’s about experiencing a space that is as thoughtfully crafted as the glass it contains.
The Cafe Experience
Beyond the treats, the cafe's atmosphere is often described as eclectic and charming. The opportunity to sit and enjoy a warm drink while gazing out at the sea or the dramatic cliffs adds a special dimension to the visit. Even when the full cafe menu might be limited outside peak season, the availability of drip coffee and ice cream bars ensures a pleasant experience.
