"Such an impressive Kauri tree. To get there you drive down Waiotoi Road, Ngunguru. (Note: Google maps first took us to a incorrect route near matapouri which led to a private road with keycode gate). On Waiotoi Road there's about three car parks right opposite the start of the track. There is a small sign on right side of main road that is easy to miss. It says track closed but the track to the tree is still open. At the start of the track you climb over a fence and walk on private land then there is small track through pine trees that leads to a wider vehicle track all the way to the tree. Dont go off the main track. There is one more big sign that says 30 mins to tree but actually its only 5-10 mins."
