The track's improvements and the chance to see native fantails are highlights. However, be prepared for slippery conditions after rain, and good footwear is essential.
"This track is pretty steep but quite short. They are currently making some improvements and putting in some steps. I think it would be quite slippery when wet. You would need good grip on your shoes in the wet. It only took me 20 min both ways and i’m by no means fit."
Nerida Manson
"This is certainly a worthy little walk while your in Russel. Like anything in Russel I takes about 3mins to drive there from the village centre. The walk itself is short but is all ups and downs on a reasonable track. The track could get a little muddy and slippery in places in the rain but overall it’s a good track and most people shouldn’t have to many issues. You get a lot of scenic photo opportunities along the way and from the top 360 vistas of the whole area making this a must do on you visit to Russel."
Jason Adams (Jase)
"Great walk, very rewarding views and many curious fantails. Do it on a sunny day as the mud gets slippery. A bit of a hill walk which is why it can take 30 minutes to the view point and another 30 back. Perfect for dogs, just maybe use a harness in case your floof gets too excited and zooms over a cliff, as the path is very edgy. Street parking nearby and easy to find in winter."
