"Whites Bay Track that leads you to Whites Bay. It is about 2.3km which will take you around 1 hour, but it took us 45 minutes to get there. The first 20 minutes is up. You will come to the road. From there it is 5 minutes up and down along the road and then 20 minutes down to Whites Bay. The track is well maintained. I took one star off because along the track there is an oder of dead animals. We discovered the order was of dead possums, maybe dumped by the DOC people. We discovered many possum traps with dead possums hanging on it, also dead possum dumped in the bush."

Exploring the Whites Bay Track
While the scenery is a major draw, be prepared for potential olfactory experiences. Some visitors have noted an odor attributed to dead possums, possibly from DOC (Department of Conservation) pest control efforts. This can include seeing possum traps with deceased animals. While this might be off-putting for some, it's a reality of conservation efforts in the area.
Despite this, the payoff is a beautiful, often secluded bay. Whites Bay itself is a lovely spot to relax, enjoy the coastal views, and perhaps even take a dip if conditions are favorable. It's a great destination for a day hike or a peaceful escape into nature.

While Rarangi Beach itself is a beautiful destination, it's important to note that amenities can be limited. Visitors are encouraged to come prepared with their own food, water, and any other necessities for a comfortable outing. The natural beauty and tranquility of Rarangi Beach make it a worthwhile stop for anyone exploring the Marlborough region.
