Reviews Summary

Visitors praise St. Luke's Anglican Church for its beautiful limestone architecture and its significant historical memorials, particularly those related to WWI and the peace garden. It's seen as a peaceful and contemplative spot in Oamaru.

"The church, designed by British architect Edward Rumsey, was built in 1865 and is now one of the attractions of Oamaru."

Ru Wi

"Wonderful Anglican limestone church (of course) in the heart of Oamaru.
Two special things to see are here.
One is on the south wall of the church is a list of names of the soldiers who died in the first World War who came from the district.
But on the other (northern) wall is a much larger list containing the names of all those who went to WWI and came back again.

The garden outside the church has a memorial to all those who died in the nuclear bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki that directly ended WWII.

The church and the grounds are a good place to spend time whether just contemplating the views of Oamaru or considering grander and/or more spiritual things."
