📍 Cape Campbell - Marlborough Marlborough 4WD club trip ⚠️Edit - this area is now closed to vehicles, due to the few wrecking it for the many. If you are ever driving on a beach or riverbank- keep low towards the waterline, NEVER drive up where brids and other wildlife are nesting.⚠️ Great way to spend a wet Sunday, headed out to explore Cape Campbell Lighthouse and the boulders at Maud beach.

Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the stunning coastal scenery and the iconic Cape Campbell Lighthouse, making the long beach walk a worthwhile adventure. However, the experience is heavily dependent on tide times, and strong winds at the lighthouse can be challenging. Some express disappointment regarding restricted access to the lighthouse itself.

"Park at Marfell’s Beach then make your way (walking or running) around to the lighthouse. A decent walk that tones the calves walking on sand. Pack a picnic. Be wary of high winds. Lots of beach for frolicking."

Steph W

"Great views and interesting walk along beach with plenty of animals and birds, although quite long. Be prepared for winds at the lighthouse as we could barely stand. Worth doing and even got a feed of mussels on the way back 😄."

Garry Chapman

"This is a very famous lighthouse. There were two films that took this lighthouse as the main scene, and it was also a lighthouse with a very story. But I don't know why the New Zealand authorities gave the area of this lighthouse to the private sector to monopolise the operation. And the Google map is not marked as closed, which disappoints our tourists who come from other countries!"
