New Zealand 🇳🇿 Key Summit Trail 🗻 First hike this trip and we really enjoyed it very much! There is a pond on top of the summit - a gorgeous and stunning view. We took very few footages as it was very windy and cold up there! Highly recommend this trail if you travel to southern New Zealand (Tips: camp at cascade creek historic camp site the night before)

The summit loop is a highlight, offering diverse vantage points. However, the unpredictable Fiordland weather can significantly impact the experience, with fog and rain sometimes obscuring the much-anticipated vistas.

"Absolutely stunning and easier walk than expected gradient and switchbacks really made the walk fun. The short circular nature walk at the summit is worth doing."

Hayley Neville

"Been hiking to this summit with my husband, but unfortunately the weather is horrible.. Once we reach the summit, it's all foggy and rain.. Could not see the view.
But it will be nice for sure when the weather is bright and sunny..
The track is not so long, only 1,5hr one way.
A bit hike, and you need a proper hiking shoes as its slippery when wet.."

Nay Sebastian

"Lovely hike up the summit. A bit steep but not technical. It took me 2h25 including the nature walk at the top and the lake Howden detour halfway through the hike.
Most of the uphill is under the trees, and it becomes exposed to wind and sun when you get close to the summit.
The nature walk at the top is very nice and pretty flat and gives you a view of Lake Marian (glacier lake). It says 30min but it can easily take less than that if you're in a hurry and it's the perfect way to enjoy the summit.
I took the Lake Howden detour (25min return) which was quite steep and hard on the knees tbh and not that worth it but I'm still glad I did it.
The parking has many spots and toilets."
