What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Venlo Railway Station receives mixed reviews, with many travelers highlighting its architectural appeal and convenient location near the city center and Limburg Museum. However, significant criticisms are leveled against its poor maintenance, particularly the unreliable and often dirty toilet facilities, and the lack of essential amenities like Wi-Fi and power outlets. The station is also frequently cited as a point of stress due to unreliable international train connections and crowded transfer points.
"Probably one of the worst stations in the Netherlands. Let’s start: there’s one single toilet which most of the times it does not work, or it gets really crowded, with queues so long that you’ll end up not using it at all or using it in one of the worst conditions you’ll probably had used a toilet.
The station itself is dirty, there’s not a single power outlet, no wifi, waiting areas are small, unattended and dirty, yes again dirty. In winter doors don’t get closed so it freezes in there.
The train change planing for this particular station is one of the worst. People here are always stressed and running. Trains tend to arrive with just a few minutes of difference making bottle necks on the entrance connecting platforms 1 to 2 and 3, making you lost the connection if you don’t run! The connection with Germany is terrible, and probably one of the worst. The companies connecting are incredibly unreliable, the amount of times I lost the train, I had to wait for an extra hour, to a couple hours. The times during winter I freeze waiting are uncountable. Things here are so bad that I tend to depart a few hours before so I arrive here without hassle. The goal here is not make it to Germany is make it alive through Venlo. RE13 / eurobahn is one of the worst private operators I ever used!
Overall, going through here is a terrible experience that challenges itself to be every time worse! Hopes of improvement? None to never. 👎"

"#32Venlo love the look of this station it's one of the older post war stations from the 50's it has a large awning and a clock tower. A large space in front and a large roundabout so plenty of space for bikes, drop offs etc. Medium size station with a few shops (florest/Kiosk). Short walk to center of Venlo and the #limburg museum is across the road. #railthetrails"
