What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about Soesterberg Air Base Park for its unique combination of nature and military history. The National Military Museum is a highlight, praised for its extensive exhibits and engaging F-16 story. The park's transformation into a natural habitat, with opportunities to see wildlife and explore former airbase structures, is also highly appreciated.
"Perhaps the best place I've been in this year. As I like military aircraft, I was excited to go here and the result was great.
Enough of my own opinion, the nationaal militair museum is a really good place to learn about the Netherlands military, it has a bunch of information, relics and a gift shop containing rather memorabilia and surplus.
There are a multitude of things to do outside but the day we visited it was raining so we hadn't spent too much time outside, but we did visit some of the models close to the main building and even took a ride in a military jeep around the area.
The F16 story was incredibly interesting and filled full with knowledge, such as how the aircraft took off, how it was built, the people who flew it,training for the Falcon and armament(weapons).
The museum has an runway which can be walked through (according to what I've been told) and some activities for children aswell.
The place comes accompanied with a cafe if you get hungry while visiting the museum.
If you like the military, then I really recommend this place for you."
