The well-maintained natural surroundings of Koortsboom are ideal for walks and relaxation. While generally serene, it can get quite busy on weekends and holidays.

"A beautiful, fairytale-like and inspiring place where I came almost every day to go jogging, about 30 years ago, usually alone, sometimes with a friend. We are talking about the Hatertse Vennen, one of the most beautiful nature reserves in Nijmegen and the surrounding area and very popular with local residents as well as people of all ages who come here from far and wide.
Today I am here for nostalgic reasons and I am happy to see that everything is still fantastic and well-maintained. Perhaps even better than before.
The ruins of Walrick are characteristic because of the beautiful, large trees around them that have all been decorated by people over time with colored rags and scraps of fabric. It almost has an oriental, somewhat Hindu appearance.
In addition, the entire place with ruins is surrounded by very beautiful fencing. Artfully woven fences to chestnut wooden fences. The ruins themselves are also very authentic and there are even a few old ornaments. It is wonderfully quiet today and I have all the time to take pictures undisturbed and enjoy this place. Especially in spring and summer, and often in the weekends, it can be very different and it is just very busy. I would say, just choose the right moment to visit this place."

"It's a really great place for a scout camp. It's also very large and very cozy. You have plenty of space. It's lovely for walking, and you also have a beautiful area in front of your camp. There are lots of things to do on the campsite grounds, and you can even go for a walk through the camp grounds.
It's just a really great place to go to camp. Everyone there is friendly and I highly recommend it."

"Not an ideal spot for a late-night picnic. Way too scary. Patchwork tree doesn't make things any better."
