What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Westfries Museum for its rich collection of Golden Age artifacts and its beautiful, historic building. The staff are frequently mentioned as friendly and helpful, and the VR experience is a unique highlight. However, some visitors noted that more exhibit materials could be translated into English or German.
"Fantastic museum with a grand entrance l went to see the Rembrandt collection which was awesome and so well presented in a building that is quite beautiful and going through stages of sympathetic restoration. Staff are very welcoming. It is actually two 16c houses joined together on three levels that was originally 8 homes.
They have a lovely shop by reception and bag lockers. They use the app BQ connects which really enhances your visit."

"This delightful museum in Hoorn's historic town square may be small but is packed with many riches of Holland's 'Golden Age'. It contains the history - in models, paintings, furniture, ceramics, artefacts - of the VOC, the once-famed 16th-18th century Dutch trading company. It's well worth spending an hour or two and can easily fit into a day trip. Tip: make sure to see Hendrik Vroom's marine painting 'View of Hoorn' (1622) and Tineke Fischer's 2018 art installation 'Nootmuskaat en Folie', a beautiful memorial to the people of the Spice Islands. Special mention also to the museum's friendly and helpful staff."

"Beautiful museum with a wonderful collection. 2-3 hours there felt as a minute.
I wish though that more materials have been translated into English/ German. Although English/ German coverage is very significant, there are some interesting materials available only in Dutch."
